Carbon and water footprints: concepts, methodologies and policy responses

    Description
This study analyses the carbon and water footprint concepts which measure greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming and the consumption and contamination of freshwater resources respectively. It studies the origins of the carbon and water concepts, compares the two concepts and the responses to carbon and water footprints (including increasing carbon and water efficiency, changing production and consumption patterns and offsetting, neutrality and trading) with a summary of lessons learned to inform future practice. This study was published by UNESCO in 2012.
