    Smallholders and sustainable wells - a retrospect: participatory groundwater management in Andhra Pradesh (India)

    This report discusses the value of the participatory groundwater management (PGM) package as a method of sustainable management of groundwater resources, particularly in relation to the large number of farmers in India who have little or no access to irrigation. The various components of PGM are described as well as the path to implementation, the responses from the people and envirionment (with case studies of responses from Chandrasagarvagu, Thundlavagu, Bhavanasi and Mandavagu in the district of Andhra Pradesh) and the sustainability, relevance and upscaling of such a programme.
