Impact of government policies on land use in Northern Vietnam: an institutional approach for understanding farmer decisions

    Description
This study of three villages in Vietnam examines the influence that policies and programs (such as land classification, land use rights devolution and reforestation schemes) which were developed to help combat the issue of deforestation have influenced the behaviour of farmers. It suggests that these policies have not impacted on land use change in the ways that policymakers planned. This study was published by IWMI in 2007.
