    Adapting to climate change in Bangladesh: stress tolerant seeds for stress-prone regions

    Description
    This document describes a project which seeks to address some of the potential consequences of climate change in the low-lying deltaic country of Bangladesh by introducing stress tolerant seeds. It summarises lessons learned which can be applied in climate change adaptation. These include: working within the local context; effective stakeholder engagement; raising awareness at multiple levels; catalysing other climate change initiatives; and resourcing projects. The document is one of a series of IFC SmartLessons from the International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group, a programme to share lessons learned in development-oriented advisory services and investment operations. It was published in May 2010.

    Adapting to climate change: the case of rice in Indonesia

    Description
    This report provides an assessment of adaptation issues relating to climate change and rice production in Indonesia and recommends potential agronomic, policy and trade measures to meet future food security needs. The work, which built upon an earlier study, involved a review of the literature, discussions with key informants in the public and private sectors in Indonesia, and a separately commissioned study on Bulog (logistics agency). The document is Report No. 44434-10, a study under the Rice Policy Dialogue AAA (P1 08646), published by The World Bank in July 2008.
